MAPIA: where leaders are born

it's been half a year to be involved in MAPIA in the art and culture division. few projects that we did as a team last year and to be honest, there's only one single project which interacts and directly relates to my position: saman traditional dance.

the fact is : i can't dance. i don't even familiar with traditional dance and stuffs.
first thing first, i had to set up the dance club. but wait, who are going to be the trainer? previously all the samaners are the seniors, and they are graduating soon! there is no saman dancers in my academic year, so where am i going to find a trainer?
i tried to contact embassy's people, and indonesian student association from other institutions as well.
no hope.

then i tried to focus first on the members while keep searching for the trainer.

lucky we already had our orientation, and therefore we have a database of the indonesians in school.
previously, i don't even know saman exists in school. i don't know exactly why, but it seems like there is low public awareness among the freshmen, especially those direct students. so this year, i tried to create more public awareness by text them one by one. i don't care whether it is male or female, whether they dance or not, whether they show some interest or not, i just invite them to join the dance group.

voila! now saman dance group had about 12 members! even better, the head of art and culture from previous batch is still around, and she agreed to be the trainer! thanks GOD!

so... trainer checked, members checked, and it's time for practice!

saman dance from MAPIA will be having their first debut on 3rd february at queenstown primary school. excitements! :D
