belitung

just read naked traveller 3, til i spot 'reasons to travel in indonesia'. as a local, i can say you barely can find travelling places in urban area (like jakarta). there's only CBD area and shopping malls there, similar to combination of raffles place and orchard road. nothing new to see, except the ultimate famous traffic jam.
i will recommend those remote areas, which still untouched and rich with natural senses like belitung. belitung is one island in indonesia located between sumatera and java. it's my daddy's hometown. i've been there several times. off course there's electricity there, but when the night comes you can barely see where you are. i seldom spot any hotel there, but i saw one located right before the beach. i love the beach! the sand is as white as flour, as soft as powder. the sea is mad clear, you can see your feet inside out!

the beach
there's one indonesian movie takes place there (laskar pelangi) , so you may spot familiar locations.
this bridge was featured in the movie
the lighthouse

belitung is famous for the giant rocks

awesome seafood there! fresh from the sea, served indonesian style. the best thing is, you can had your meal on the beach! seems like you're on your private island after all.
