meanwhile, the thoughts of job applications keep bugging me. i haven't complete my resume, and yet the fact that i don't have any working experience (oh well, i do have one: as music teacher. ) related to business things just made me feel i'm not qualified enough.
it resembles two years ago, when i was in high school from science major, and decided to take accounting major for university. honestly, i never take, read, touch, accounting related materials FOR MY ENTIRE LIFE before, until i was sitting in university and attend mr. hoo joo sang class: ACFI 1001.
anyway, i'll just try to ameliorate my resume as good as possible, and try to maximize the usage of professional english profusely (hope it will helps myself looks 'more intelligent' somehow). these are my tips to make you get the job.
how to make your portfolio looks professional:
- try to use in depth vocabulary, professional english, and those words you seldom hear in basic conversation for your resume. this will make yourself looks somehow 'more intelligent' and professional. however, make sure you know what is the meaning behind it, or else, you'll successfully makes yourself look dumb.
- create a new email address from your name, and DO NOT EVER PUT those email addresses you made when you were 13 y.o. an example of a professional corporate email address : fransisca.setiawan@live.com. an example of unprofessional email address: p1nK_bLuezz_gr33N@blablabla.com
- attach your certificate and awards. these can be obtained from your pro-activeness towards school activities. join school clubs, involve in CSR activities, attend workshops (you might perceive that you 'buy' the certificate for $10 only), join student councils and international student association (these type of certificate would be valued higher. SC are fully supported by school, and ISA like MAPIA is fully supported by indonesian embassy).
- attach your educational certificate. try to score high for all modules, to make your interviewers think "ohmaigat! i have to hire this person! he follow fransisca's tips on how to make your portfolio looks professional!" *oops*
- last but not least, your professional photo. black is the color of professionals. police wear black. mafia wear black. prime minister wear black. president wear black. even there is movie titled MEN IN BLACK. another tip for those who apply in accountant position, wear your glasses. it makes you look diligent, intelligent, and more careful.
